Community retail (or co-retail) enables emerging food producers to launch and test their products on store shelves at Seasoned Specialty Food Market, a social benefit retailer and part. This supportive environment provides retail training & services for the maker, while giving back 100% of sales proceeds back to them.
Products from diverse and emerging food manufacturers and processors are reviewed and selected by Seasoned Specialty Food Market based readiness for community retail. In addition to other criteria, selected participants must hold the required state food license(s). Examples of services and benefits from community retail include:
- year round shelf space with dedicated staff for up to 3 SKUs (vary by product category and the season)
- co-branding and product promotions,
- sales reports and customer feedback,
- connections to other services as available and
- 100% of proceeds from the sale of your product(s).
The above is offered free of charge to the selected participants for a 12- 18 month period. Terms and conditions of sales and distribution determined and administered by our retail partner, Seasoned Specialty Food Market.
Selected businesses must be licensed by the MDA and/or the relevant state-agency, to make and sell food through stores and must have a product that is labeled & packaged- ready for the CPG market.
All products from interested applicants will be reviewed. However due to capacity, priority is given to products and businesses of color, and/or women-owned food businesses.
We want to know the story behind the business - the maker, the product, in particular, their journey, experiences and what the goals are for the business in the immediate as well as long term.
